BST = Bumper Sticker Thoughts. Unquipping quippy quips. Thoughts about actual bumper stickers and thoughts that ought be bumper stickers (or t-shirts, or hats, or whatever).
Liberals want you to think like them; Conservatives just want you to think.
It occurred to me that the sentiment is meaningless for a couple reasons.
One, you can switch the affiliations and the statement would be equally true. Both liberals and conservatives want you to think. And both liberals and conservatives want you to think like them.
But, more importantly, the statement is meaningless because liberals and conservatives have fundamentally different world views, objectives, and goals.
Liberals want the world to be safe, fair, and equitable for all people, now and in the future.
Conservatives want the world to be safe, fair, and equitable for them, now.
You can think deeply, clearly, and logically, and be faithful to the data, and come to exactly the same conclusions as any liberal or conservative if you do so with their respective world views, objectives, and goals in mind.
