It would only change the dimensions a bit (a king is almost a square as it is), but would allow 90° rotation (instead of only 180°), to spread the wear more evenly and theoretically extend the life of the mattress.
Plus, it would open up all new lines of sheet and blanket sizes, for great accessory monetization opportunities.
