There’s a documentary to be made about all those single rotten reviewers that spoil movies’ and TV shows’ 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
It’s as if those reviewers live only to take the contrary point of view on nearly universally praised films and TV shows.
Are they the same people every time? Do they really believe what they write? Is there consistency across their reviews? Or do they take the contrary position just to drive clicks? Are they honest idea brokers, or just trolls? Did they just get it wrong? Or are they the only ones who got it right?
It would be really interesting to look at their records and the data, interview them and the film makers whose work they gave those lonely bad reviews to, and see what answers and insights could be revealed.
