Don’t Say He Didn’t Warn You

Much is being made of Trump’s 2023 Veterans Day social post because he referred to his political and ideological enemies as vermin.

That’s classic fascism and signature Trump. It is scary to say the least, and just the latest of the innumerable reasons why no one should ever vote for him for anything, least of all President of the United States.

But all these reactions to his comment have just glossed over the more explicit confession of his intentions that is right there.

“In honor of our great Veterans on Veteran’s Day,” Trump wrote, “we pledge to you that we will root out the Communists, Marxists, Fascists, and Radical Left Thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our Country, lie, steal, and cheat on Elections, and will do anything possible, whether legally or illegally, to destroy America, and the American Dream.”

“The threat from outside forces,” he continued, “is far less sinister, dangerous, and grave, than the threat from within.”

Now, read that again. And pay attention to the structure of the pronouncement.

What initially looks like a list of what his enemies supposedly do (thus giving him plausible deniability), is actually a list of what he will do IN ADDITION to rooting out his enemies.

What he actually said is that “we” (he and his people) will:

— Root out the Communists, Marxists, Fascists, and Radical Left Thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our Country
— Lie
— Steal
–Cheat on Elections
–Do anything possible, whether legally or illegally, to destroy America, and the American Dream

Because they (he and his people) are a far more “sinister, dangerous, and grave” “threat from within” than “the threat from outside forces”.

Make no mistake, he didn’t say that his enemies lie, steal, cheat on elections, and will do anything to destroy America and the American Dream.

He said that HE and his WE are going to do those things:

“We will” root out our enemies.

“We will” lie.

“We will” steal.

“We will” cheat on elections.

“We will” do anything to destroy America.
